Amarilla Divers Tenerife ~ Egypt Trip 2013

January is always a good time to go to Egypt for Amarilla Divers as it means that both Neil & Mary can have some time of together....yes a rare thing !

So this year we set off to our annual liveaboard trip with lots of divers and decided to do the Deep North itinerary that includes Dahab.

This allowed us to dive the famous Blue Hole, The Canyon, Ras Abu Galum and Gabr el-Bint.

Diving at the Blue Hole was one of my favourites as the life on the outside of the 'hole' was stunning and we also got our teeth and ears!! cleaned by the cleaner fish on the reef.

The Blue Hole is world famous for Apnea (Free Diving) and is an amazing place to be.

We entered via 'The Bells' and swam along the reef, finally entering the Blue Hole itself. there is not a great amount of life inside the hole, but it is still pretty amazing.

Another great dive was the Canyon with its rather large stretch of windy twists. This was a great experience and we also found lots of life here including the Pigmy Sea Horses and Goby's.

We also dived along Tiran Island which is always amazing diving with loads of colourful corals. This is one of the best areas in my opinion to dive when in the Red Sea.

We had some great times and not only with the diving but also with the guys having fun all day and evening, we even played 'ibbly dibbly' Yes we have to ask Mars Tanya about that!!

Here are some of the photos Neil took.

Lucy did a tad a free diving form the back of the boat, whilst us divers looked on.

Lucy recently finished her AIDA 2 * Free Diving course here in Tenerife.

Can you see the hidden Scorpion fish among the corals??

Ahhh BIG Puffer Fish and Mary. Very pretty fish and rather friendly too.

We run annual trips to Egypt and normally these are in January time. Next year 2014, this trip may well be in February and November. We will be giving out details soon.

Check out our Facebook Page for more photos and also for daily updates around the center.

Diving Tenerife ~ Divemaster intern update August 2012

During the month of August we said good bye to Jason & Joe after spending 8 weeks here in Tenerife and leaving with their Divemaster certifications and Joe with his Assistant Instructor level too.

They were both great students and divers and it was a pleasure to work with them. We wish them both well for the future and hope to see them both soon.

So we was then left with Suzy & Lucy who both decided on staying on for another 5 weeks to gain more experience and confidence in their new found certification.

Both girls have done a great job and have grow from strength to strength. They have been guiding dives, taking Scuba Reviews and also doing Discover Scuba Divers as part of the DSD Leader certification. this will also give them a great start for the Assistant Instructor cert and they will gain credits towards any Instructor levels they choose for the future.

What else has been happening at Amarilla Divers..... Well we was joined by new Intern Duncan who has just finished his Masters in Maths at Warwick University.

Duncan joined us as a Rescue Diver and Master Scuba Diver. He will be with us for 6 weeks during which time he will be diving lots :) and training for his Divemaster & Assistant Instructor Course.

The first day in the shop and Duncan was already signed up for a 'Worldwide Night Dive' organized by Marine Innova at Los Cristianos beach. he was joined by Neil, Colin, Billy, Lucy, Suzy & Chris and another 150 divers!!

The idea was to search at night for gift tags that offer prizes. Neil found a few and shared them out with group afterwards and then we all had Paella & Beer!!!  Neil also won a nice BIG box for his Camera equipment, Chris won a days water sports and Colin won a Debris collection bag !! :)

It was a great night dive with lots of fun and Duncan even ended up on Spanish TV after 24 hours on the island!!! Well done Duncan.

We have also had Billy back with us who we are proud to announce has now finished his Divemaster course with Neil and did a fantastic job with his skill circuit and stamina. We are so happy that he has finished as Billy has had to split his training between holidays, but worked hard and did us ALL proud.

Billy & Duncan were working together on their stamina and kit exchanges and managed some excellent scores with some very good skills too.

We now say Ciao to Billy for a while but will keep on working with Duncan for his completion date.

We have had a very busy August with the return of some of our regular divers including our younger Bubblemakers, who have now turned Discover Scuba Divers and ventured in to Open Water.

We also sadly said goodbye to Colin for a while at least, as he returns to the UK but I am sure we will see him soon and he is joining us in Egypt in January.

It has been a real blast throughout this whole month and we would like to say THANK YOU to the Amarilla Divers Dive Team.

Neil, Chris, Suzy, Lucy, Jason, Joe, Billy, Duncan, Colin & Mary.

Well done Guys......go Team AD

Annual group trip to Egypt 2012.

Amarilla Divers has been having annual dive  trips for the last couple of years and this January we went with a group of 19 people to Sharm EL Sheik.

This year we spent a week on a fantatsic liveaboard with the King Snefro Fleet, the boat we had was the Target. This boat was out of this world and catered for every need that ourt divers had.

It had a lovely big dive deck that supplied us divers with air or nitrox, depending on training, and had enough space for all our equipment to be stowed away and stored. It also had some very nice bar areas and lounge areas where we had fun playing silly games in the evening or even watching a DVD :)

The food was very good and everyone had lots to eat and drink and the even made us a roast turkey :) There was always food around an with 3 meals a day plus all  the snack we had, no one went hungry.......well aprt from when we went home ! lol

The crew were great and they cleaned our rooms regularly and left everything nice and tidy and pretty much made our lives great for the whole time we was on board.

The diving in Egypt is great and although the visibility can be better here in Tenerife, the fish life and corals that the Red Sea hold, is absolutely STUNNING!!!...

We had many encouters with Lion Fish, Blue Spotted Rays, Arabian Angel Fish, Giant Moray eels and even some Feather Tailed Sting rays. We visited many of the wreck that are gathered in the entrance to the Suez Canal along with the Thistlegorm. We dived 2 dives here and one was a night dive!!!... some excellent diving had be all our divers and some great pictures that followed. Neil has also made a video  that will be added to our youtube account.

Our trip went so well infact, that we are doing it all over again in January 2013 and so far most of the Amarilla Divers 'family' have already booked their flights and paid their deposits!! YES they are eager little beavers.

If anyone is interested on our trips or even jjst to come and experience diving within our Tenerife waters, then just drop Mary an email at mary@amarilladivers.com and we will give you details.

We are definitely looking forward to seeing you all again soon and doing it all again in the Red Sea.
